Middlesbrough is across the river and a big part of our week. The Victorian terraces around Gresham, Ayresome and Linthorpe are where the older wiring is. They generate most of the safety certificates and fuse box work we do here.
Further out in Acklam, Marton, Nunthorpe and Ormesby the houses are newer and the jobs shift to extensions, kitchens, extra sockets and lighting. Landlords and agents across the town use us for EICRs. The report always comes with a plain-English summary.
We are based in Norton, Stockton. Middlesbrough is just across the Tees from us.
Middlesbrough homes and their wiring
About 144,000 people lived in the borough at the 2021 Census. The town grew from 40 people in 1829 to 90,000 by 1900. Victorian terraces still fill the streets around Parliament Road and Abingdon Road.
Linthorpe was built as a suburb of wide tree lined avenues in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Albert Park opened in 1868. Linthorpe is a conservation area with extra rules on the changes owners can make.
The town then spread out. Marton was a small village until the 1950s. Nunthorpe got new estates in the late 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Hemlington was built in the 1960s and Coulby Newham from about 1978.
Some old streets have been cleared and rebuilt. In Ayresome, 412 houses were bought and knocked down from 1999. Bellway took on the rebuild in 2004. Union Village at Gresham is a newer scheme.
What we get called out for in Middlesbrough
Newport licence streets
Parts of Newport ward need a selective landlord licence. The licence says electrical repairs must be done by a scheme member, such as NAPIT. We are NAPIT approved.
Landlord EICRs
About 21% of homes here were privately rented in 2021. Every one needs an EICR at least every 5 years. We test, report and price any repairs.
Fuse box upgrades
Victorian terraces and older semis often run on an old board. A new one with RCD protection makes the house safer.
Kitchens and extensions
In Acklam, Marton and Nunthorpe the work is more about new circuits for kitchens, extensions and extra sockets.

What we do in Middlesbrough
Electrician in Middlesbrough, questions answered
How much does an EICR cost in Middlesbrough?
It depends on the size of the home and how many circuits it has. We give you a fixed price before we come. If repairs are needed, you get one clear price for those too.
Does my rental in Newport need a licence?
If it is in one of the two Newport licence areas, yes. Streets include Parliament Road, Princes Road, Newport Road and Ayresome Street. Check the full list on the council website.
Do I need planning permission for a small shared house?
Since 8 February 2025, most of Middlesbrough needs planning permission to turn a house into a small HMO. Ask the council first. We can do the electrics once you have the go-ahead.
Do you work in Linthorpe?
Yes. Linthorpe has extra rules on the changes owners can make. We plan the work with care. Ask the council if you are not sure what needs permission.
Ready for electrics done properly?
Free fixed quotes across Stockton-on-Tees and Teesside. Certified work, an immaculate finish and a price that doesn't move.
