Your local electrician in Stockton-on-Tees
Stockton is home. We are based in Norton, minutes from the High Street, so most of the town is a short drive: Hartburn, Fairfield, Oxbridge, Grangefield, Roseworth, Elm Tree, Hardwick and Bishopsgarth. The housing mix runs from Victorian terraces off Yarm Lane to 1960s semis and new builds. Each brings its own electrical jobs.
You get a genuinely local electrician who answers the phone, turns up when promised and leaves every job safe, certified and spotless. Fuse box on its way out, sockets gone dead, a safety certificate for a rented flat or the wiring for a new kitchen, we would love to help.
We are based in Norton, TS20, on the north side of Stockton. The whole town is close to home for us.
Stockton homes and their wiring
About 85,000 people lived in Stockton at the 2021 Census. The town grew fast in the 1800s, from 10,000 people in 1851 to over 50,000 by 1901. Central Stockton is still mostly terraced housing. Some of the bigger three storey houses are now flats.
Norton has a Georgian village green and a High Street with townhouses from the 1700s and 1800s. It became a conservation area in 1969. Its later estates include Albany, Glebe, Crooksbarn and Norton Grange.
Hartburn is mostly semis from the 1930s on, near Ropner Park. Roseworth was built in the 1950s and every street name there starts with R. At Hardwick, 200 houses were knocked down and rebuilt between 2003 and 2012.
Old terraces may still have an early fuse box and too few sockets. Homes from the 1930s to the 1960s often have wiring added bit by bit. We test first, then tell you plainly what needs doing.
What we get called out for in Stockton-on-Tees
Selective licence areas
Since 1 November 2024, private rented homes in Central Stockton, North Thornaby and Newtown need a council licence. The scheme runs for 5 years. We do the EICR and any repairs.
Landlord EICRs
Every rented home needs an EICR at least every 5 years. New tenants must get a copy before they move in.
Fuse box upgrades
A new board with RCD protection is often the first job in an older house. We test the circuits before and after.
Rewires in empty houses
We rewire houses that are empty, such as between tenants or before you move in. It keeps the job quick and clean.

What we do in Stockton-on-Tees
Electrician in Stockton-on-Tees, questions answered
How much does a new fuse box cost in Stockton?
It depends on how many circuits you have and what the tests find. We look first, then give you one fixed price in writing. The quote is free.
Do I need a licence to rent out a house in Stockton?
If it is in Central Stockton, North Thornaby or Newtown, yes. The council has street maps on its website. Every rented home needs an EICR at least every 5 years either way.
Can you rewire my house while I live in it?
No. We only rewire houses that are empty. Most people book it between tenants or before they move in. Smaller jobs like a new fuse box are fine with you at home.
Do you work on Norton's older houses?
Yes. Norton has been a conservation area since 1969. We plan cable routes with care and make good as we go.
